3. Lakers have more championship experience
The Lakers haven’t won an NBA title since 2010. The Clippers have never been to the Western Conference Finals, let alone the NBA Finals. Even when they were the Buffalo Braves and boasted three-time scoring champ and 1974-75 MVP Bob McAdoo, they couldn’t get to the conference finals.
Which means that both teams need a wingman of sorts to show them how to go all the way.
Other than LeBron, the Lakers have four players who have won an NBA world championship: McGee, Rondo, Green and Cook. Even better, McGee and Green each have two championship rings.
For the Clippers, only Leonard has tasted the spoils of achieving the top prize in all of pro basketball.
Despite what some will say, this really matters. Come playoff time, or even a highly-anticipated regular season matchup, guys who have gone all the way will help their teammates maintain their poise and know what to do and how to do it so that they will win that game or series.
