– Improve three-point shooting
Kuzma burst on the scene in his rookie season with his ability to put the ball in the basket. As a stretch-4, Kuzma was able to start off his career in the NBA with a 36.6 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
As a forward, this was a great shooting percentage for Kuzma, and it was one of the reasons why he had a strong rookie season. While Kuzma did start out great from behind the three-point line, he slipped up in his sophomore season.
In about the same amount of attempts per game, Kuzma only shot 30 percent from behind the arc last season. A six-point drop in percentage is certainly noticeable and something that will have to be improved upon.
This offseason, Kuzma has already been working hard on his jump shot by hiring a new shooting coach. If he is able to regain that form from his rookie season and shoot above 35 percent, it would be huge for the Lakers.
While they won’t be relying as heavily on Kuzma to be a three-point shooter, his ability to stretch the floor makes him very dangerous. With a healthy LeBron and the addition of Davis, Kuzma should find himself with a lot of open looks from three-point range this coming season. Now, it will be on him to knock them down.
For Kuzma, getting back to that form of his rookie season from beyond the arc should be a top priority.
