Jeremy Lin was never really given a fair chance. He really is an example of having faith in God and himself.
Jeremy Lin is beloved in his home country in China for a reason. He worked hard at his passion and achieved his dream. Lin was a selfless guy that just wanted to fit in and have fun with his teammates. It was evident when he put on a show against the Lakers during his great run.
The only problem was that the Knicks was going through power struggles at the time and Jeremy Lin got caught up in it. The marketing team saw the untold millions that Lin commanded while the Knicks front office did not want to match the Houston Rockets contract offer.
Then there was that Carmelo Anthony dynamic that had to be dealt with. Add that to the coaching carousel the Knicks are famous for, it’s no surprise that an opportunity was missed.
In Houston, Lin was on the roster before James Harden came on board. If Chris Paul and Dwight Howard couldn’t last past two years playing with Harden, one would think Jeremy Lin had no chance to survive. Plus, when the Rockets was trying to woo Carmelo Anthony to come to Houston (The first time!), they put up billboards with Lin’s number on Melo’s picture.
Jeremy Lin used a bible quote on Twitter to address the situation. How many people would be that graceful?
His knee injury in Brooklyn probably ended any real chance of lasting in the NBA with a contender. The Nets gave him his last big payday. The Hawks acquired him to open up cap space to move in a later deal and he was never in Toronto’s plans.
The NBA really owes Jeremy Lin a debt of gratitude. Lin opened up a huge market for the NBA in China. It’s no secret that China has a huge fanbase that loves NBA basketball and Lin continued a wave that Yao Ming started in Houston. He was humble and represented his country in a way that as a whole most should be proud.
To Jeremy Lin from Lake Show Life, congratulations on the nine years and continued success.
