LeBron James: Former No. 1 picks who were his teammates in his career
By Ronald Agers
Kyrie Irving is the best No. 1 pick LeBron James has ever played with. I mean until say, October 22nd!
Let’s just say that the stars aligned perfectly for the Cleveland Cavaliers when LeBron James made his return to Cleveland. After four years of absolute misery, the Cavaliers scored the No. 1 pick and selected Andrew Wiggins. After Wiggins’ rights were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love, the Cavs were considered instant title contenders.
Kyrie Irving had just started to obtain All-Star status when LeBron James returned to Cleveland in 2014. The two dynamic stars along with Love would combine to offer one of the best “Big 3” combinations in recent NBA history playing together for three years.
With Irving and James leading the attack, Cleveland would advance to three-straight NBA Finals appearances and winning it all in 2016. They each contributed one of the most iconic plays in NBA Finals history to derail the 73-9 Golden State Warriors on the road in Game 7.
To the Lakers fans that already have Anthony Davis on the brain, take a second to think. Has he played with LeBron James yet? No. Now by this upcoming season, Anthony Davis will be the best No. 1 overall pick that LeBron has ever played with as teammates. Until then, which will be about another 6 to 7 weeks, that title belongs to the first overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, Kyrie Irving.
The next two players on this list did not last long playing alongside LeBron at all.
