Final Thoughts

Green is not Kawhi Leonard, nor will he ever be, and although Leonard would’ve been great for the Los Angeles Lakers, it was beneficial the route the Lakers were forced to take. Leonard would’ve sucked the cap dry and had the entire cap dedicated to him, James and Davis.

Green knows what it takes to win in the NBA, he has done it on two different teams and has made big shots in his career. That will be vital if the Lakers can make a run deep in the playoffs.

By spurning the Lakers to sign with the Clippers, it allowed the Lakers to fill the roster with depth. This will, in turn, be a big factor late in the season when it’s time to rest their superstar duo. The Lakers can feel comfortable beating teams like the Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Hornets and others while getting guys nights off and preserving their energy for the playoffs.

The Lakers will be there in contention as long as they’re healthy, they built a good balance of defense and offense and will have good spacing on the floor.

Green will be a big part of that and will help on both ends as this team seeks to find their identity in the first part of the season with so many moving parts.
