The players who will garner most of the headlines and responsibilities for the Los Angeles Lakers this upcoming season are obviously LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But there are five other players who will integral to the team’s success.
With training camp almost here, the anticipation for the 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers season is starting to build. After a very dismal end to the previous season, it looked like their only path to championship contention – and it was a narrow one at that – was to trade for Anthony Davis without gutting the roster.
It didn’t seem likely to happen, but they got it done!
After missing out on Kawhi Leonard, the next task was to build a deep and serviceable roster around their new dynamic duo. With a finite amount of cap space to work with and most of the best complementary players off the board, the Lakers also managed to get the job done in that regard.
Most of us expect James and Davis to play at an extremely high level. But as with just about every other team that is a legitimate contender for the NBA championship this upcoming season, the Lakers’ fortunes could ultimately rise or fall on how well a few of their complementary players perform.
There may not be a whole lot of doubts about most of them, but there are still questions as to whether they will give the team exactly what they need to end up hoisting their 17th Larry O’Brien trophy in June of next year.
