– Right the wrongs
Everyone knows that Howard’s first stint in Los Angeles did not go as planned. At the time, it looked like Howard was going to be the next great big man in the franchise’s illustrious history. However, the Lakers suffered a lot of injuries that season and never gelled like they would have hoped to.
After playing just one season with the Lakers after they traded for him, Howard went on to sign with the Houston Rockets. Howard’s time in Houston didn’t last all that long either, and he’s bounced around since.
Howard doesn’t have the greatest reputation around the league and the Lakers are being very cautious with him, and that is shown by them giving him a non-guaranteed contract. If Howard is a problem in the locker room, the Lakers won’t hesitate to just simply dump him.
With all of the troubles in recent years, it appears like Howard realizes this could be his last chance. The Lakers are once again contenders like they were when he was here the first time. While it might not be exactly how Howard or the Lakers thought it would go, Howard has a chance to right some wrongs. With a strong group of players around him, Howard will hopefully buy-in and not be a problem.
