4.) The Dwight Howard/JaVale McGee center battle

Preseason can be seen as an extension of training camp when it comes to determining lineups and by far the most intriguing positional ‘battle’ is the starting center spot between JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard.

Both have said that they are “all business” and want to put the team first, but they are also determined to prove they are the right choice for the starting lineup. Even though both will probably see limited action in the preseason, every minute those two are on the court is a chance for Vogel to see who is the better fit.

It’s definitely going to be a tough decision for Vogel to make, as McGee is the incumbent starter, and already has an established chemistry with LeBron James. But, Howard is by far the more accomplished player and has the stats and accolades to back this up.

With a lot of drama following Howard these past couple of seasons, it’s going to be up to him to prove that he has put all of that behind him and he can be a helpful part of the team.
