3.) Guard Rotation
We all know preseason is a time for experimentation and trying out different lineups to see what clicks and the guard rotation is one of the main things to keep an eye on aside from the center position. With a litany of guards at the team’s disposal, Vogel is going to have a lot of options to consider.
Are the Lakers going to go with a more conventional lineup and start a true point guard like Rajon Rondo? Or, are they going to cede the playmaking to LeBron James and have a player like Avery Bradley or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope start as the ‘point guard’?
So, something to watch closely will be how both KCP and Bradley perform and their fit with LeBron and AD, as that will be the most important thing factoring into lineup construction at the end of the day and those two are the top choices, aside from Rondo, to land the other starting guard spot.
In addition to watching who is a better fit to start, I’m also interested to see how Quinn Cook and Troy Daniels do in this new Lakers offense. Both are great 3-point shooters and will help space the floor. Daniels is pretty limited offensively, but Cook has some playmaking ability that can help make his case for the backup point guard spot if he can showcase it.
