Los Angeles Lakers: 5 reasons why they will miss Brandon Ingram
By Robert Marvi
1. His overall star potential
Most of the Lakers’ cap space is tied up between James and Davis. Between that and the fact that they traded away multiple first-round draft picks to New Orleans, the Purple and Gold will need to place a premium on developing young talent in the coming years, something they never really did during the Kobe Bryant era.
Kuzma will certainly be one of those guys, but like I said before Ingram has a higher ceiling. He has the ability to become a top-15 or maybe even a top-10 player in this league for all the reasons discussed previously in this article.
As a member of the Pelicans, Ingram will have the opportunity to spread his long wings and assert himself more than he would’ve any time soon on the Lakers. He’ll likely become, at worst, the second option on offense for a team that could challenge for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference.
If Ingram becomes a player who gives you a consistent 22-25 points and 4 assists per game along with elite defense and a solid 3-point shot, he’ll be a force in this league for years to come. He may never become a true superstar, but a guy like that may someday find himself as a strong second banana on a championship team.
