Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Lessons from final preseason loss to Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry and D’Angelo Russell’s minutes show how badly the Los Angeles Lakers dented the Warriors confidence.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made it a point to win the game on Friday night. This is probably to boost the confidence of the roster after three thorough beatings at the hands of the Lakers.
While the stars rested, Curry played 33 minutes while Russell played 29. That’s a ton of minutes in the final preseason game. Even Draymond Green‘s minutes were high at 31 minutes.
Curry had 22 points in the first half on his way to a game-high 32. He added six assists and shot 6-of-15 from 3-point land. Plus, he did Steph things at the end of the first half.

One observation for Jared Dudley. Hand down, man down. Then Curry shut the building down with a 4-point play that put the game away for the most part.

Russell followed up Curry’s performance dropping 29 points on the strength of six 3-point shots. Sure the duo played well in this game, but this does not change the fact that the Warriors do not match up well at all with the Lakers.
Collectively over the previous three preseason games, both players struggled to get on track. Steph shot under 50% in the games he played before this one. Russell was wildly inefficient and hurt the Warriors with his floor game.
When the Lakers’ main players come back, things will be different.
