1.) The LeBron/Davis connection is real and teams should be scared.
After months of wondering how LeBron James and Anthony Davis were going to look playing with one another, we got our first glimpses of that duo this preseason, and needless to say, they didn’t disappoint.
It only took about five minutes in the opening preseason game against the Warriors to see that this pairing is one of the deadliest in the league. It’s honestly insane how well these two compliment each other on the court.
LeBron is one of the best playmakers and passers of his generation, and Davis is an elite finisher and lob threat, as well as being one of the best pick-and-roll threats in the league. These two abilities manifested themselves throughout the preseason, as the two carved up the Warriors’ and Net’s defenses.
The LeBron/Davis pick and roll is incredibly dangerous and potentially rivals the Curry/Draymond pick and roll that was a huge factor in the Warriors dominance these past five years.
If that wasn’t enough to persuade you that this duo is a force to be reckoned with here are the final preseason metrics for the two to consider. In the 64 minutes with LeBron and Davis on the floor, the Lakers posted an offensive efficiency of 122.1, and a defensive efficiency of 90.6, giving them a net efficiency of +31.5.
Small sample size the theater at play here, but hey it’s the preseason, overreactions are to be expected.
Also, it has to be noted that these two have had very little time to develop chemistry as they played limited minutes in the preseason and have had only a couple of weeks of training camp.
If this is the result we’re getting after only a couple weeks together, imagine what these two will look like come playoff time.
