3. Troy Daniels

One goal that the Los Angeles Lakers had during the offseason was to bring in some more floor spacing in the way of 3-point shooting. Last season, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka brought in playmakers and defensive-minded players. This time around, Pelinka changed course and brought in some shooters, one of those being Troy Daniels.

Daniels was a 40 percent 3-point shooter entering this season. No one was sure if he would have a consistent spot in the rotation heading into the season, but Rajon Rondo‘s injury opened up a spot in the backcourt and Daniels took advantage against the Jazz.

Daniels provided a spark off the bench, knocking down 5-of-9 shots overall and 4-of-8 from deep for 15 points. He was the only other player other than LeBron James and Anthony Davis to score in double-figures. He also added three rebounds and one steal.

Through his first two games in purple and gold, Daniels is 5-of-13 from the 3-point line. That will certainly get the attention of the coaching staff. While it is a small sample size, Daniels should have moved ahead of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on the depth chart, as KCP has yet to make a shot from the field through two games.
