– Stars produce

While it is important for the Lakers to have role players step up, most of the time it will come down to how Anthony Davis and LeBron James play. In the win over the Hornets, the Lakers once again got big games from their two stars.

In the win, Davis absolutely dominated in the first half and really helped lead the offense. Overall, Davis finished with 29 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and three assists. Davis continues to produce on both ends of the court, and really looks great protecting the rim.

Despite a slow start from LeBron, he turned it on in the second half and helped seal the win. James finished with 20 points, 12 assists and six rebounds. James continues to do a great job setting up the offense and facilitating well.

With Rondo out, James looks like he is well on his way to averaging over 10 assists per game. As the primary ball-handler and “point guard”, the offense is looking pretty good. James in the pick and roll has been impressive with the new array of weapons around him.

Even though its just three games, the duo of Davis and LeBron looks really good. The chemistry between the two will only continue to grow and things will get even better for the Lakers.
