4.) Home/Away Uniforms (2000-2017)
The jersey is fairly simple in the grand scheme of jersey designs. It doesn’t have fancy pinstripes, gimmicks, nor does it have the drop-shadowed numbers of the previous jerseys. But there is beauty in its simplicity.
These jerseys represent a long period of Lakers history, from the Shaquille O’Neal-Kobe Lakers that three-peated in 2000-2002, to the back-to-back titles with Kobe and Pau Gasol of 2009 and 2010. Throughout these years, the team was wearing this version of the purple and gold.
It may be considered cheating a little bit by including both the home and away version of this uniform, but the two are so synonymous with this era in Laker basketball and it pre-dates the odd change to the home/away jersey tradition that is now in place, where home variants are played on the road and vice versa.
Beyond that there isn’t much else that needs to be said about these jerseys; they had the right shade of gold that has since been difficult to replicate by Nike, and are perhaps one of the most recognizable and quintessential jerseys in the entire NBA.
