2. Shelvin Mack
Coming in at the number two spot is Shelvin Mack, who was the Orlando Magic’s leader in assists for the 2017-2018 season, at a colossal 3.9 per game. This was a real tweet put out by the official Orlando Magic Twitter account.
Jokes aside, Mack is still an NBA level point guard, even if he is only a fringe rotation player at this point in his career. With career averages of 6.6 points, 2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, Mack fits the bill of want you would want in your third point guard for the most part.
The shooting or lack thereof would definitely be a problem, as he is only a career 33% shooter from beyond the arc, but in his last two full seasons, his average was closer to 35%. The defense would also be a cause for concern as he’s been a net negative in DBPM his entire career, but if he’s playing limited minutes, then that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
As is the case for all of these potential candidates, Mack is a ‘break in case of emergency’ kind of signing.
