Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Takeaways from win over the Phoenix Suns
By Nick Ziegler
– Rondo looks good in debut
Coming into the game against the Suns, the Lakers were a bit banged up. Anthony Davis and Troy Daniels were both questionable with some injuries, as was Rajon Rondo. However, for the first time this season, Rondo was on the court for the Lakers.
With a 7-2 record coming into the game against the Suns, the Lakers have done really well without Rondo. While his role with the Lakers might not be completely defined, Rondo does figure to be a decent piece in the rotation for the Lakers.
In his first game this season, Rondo looked pretty good. In 14 minutes, Rondo was able to stuff the stat sheet with five points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Considering this was his first game action of the season, Rondo looked pretty good. Over the next few games, it will be interesting to monitor how the guard rotation looks for the Lakers.
With the strong play of Avery Bradley on both ends of the court so far this season, he is going to continue to see minutes around 30 per game. However, with Rondo back, we saw Quinn Cook and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both play under 10 minutes. Vogel might really just roll with the hot hand when it comes to his guards. Furthermore, it was a good start to the season for Rondo.
