2. Team Offense
Although the offense is still not clicking on all cylinders, it shows definite signs of starting to move forward.
Overall, the Lakers are averaging nearly 111 points per game, which ranks just 15th in the league. But, they have the top point differential in the league at 10.1 points a game.
The return of Kuzma, who missed the first four games, is already helping to spur the offense to greater heights. He spent most of his first four games, except for a brief spurt against Chicago, shaking off his rust. But in the last three following games, he looked great, averaging 20 points while shooting 54% from the field and 47% behind the arc. Both Davis and James are thrilled to have a third quality scorer on the team.
Rajon Rondo also returned from a calf injury to play his first game. At age 33, he is still an outstanding passer and excels at setting up an offense. He should help his teammates to get high-quality, easy shots.
The potential danger is that neither Kuzma nor Rondo are strong defenders. In particular, Rondo was consistently beaten off the dribble last season. But Vogel will be able to substitute situationally as needed this season to avoid mismatches.
