– Strong depth
One of the reasons for the hot start to the season for the Lakers has been their depth. Even though the team is 12-2, they have had some key players already miss games this season. Both Kyle Kuzma and Rondo started the season out with injuries. Also, Avery Bradley is currently out with a hairline fracture in his leg.
If this was last season, the Lakers wouldn’t have the depth to overcome rotation players missing time. However, the Lakers have a really strong bench this season, as Dwight Howard, Alex Caruso, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Quinn Cook, and Jared Dudley have been able to provide productive minutes.
Compared to last season, the depth of the Lakers is much better. Having players that can step up when guys like Rondo, Kuzma, and Bradley are out is very important in the regular season. While having two superstars is great for the playoffs, having a deep roster is important for getting there.
With players taking games off a bit more frequently in recent years, having guys that can step in an help in regular-season games is very important for positioning. Having players that can step up on any given night will help the Lakers reach their ultimate goal this season.
