2. Lebron James and Anthony Davis have developed chemistry faster than anyone could’ve expected

When LeBron James teams up with a superstar teammate(or two), it usually takes a little while for them to get acclimated. The Big 3 Miami Heat team started their journey by going 8-8 in their first games together before going on to win two titles with four trips to the finals in 4 years.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, with Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, started 19-20 before righting the ship to finish the season 53-29. After that, they went to the finals three straight years which included a championship vs. the 73-9 Golden State Warriors.

If those teams started so poorly and still reached the heights they got to, what can we expect from this combination over the next few years after their superb start?

LeBron is assisting Anthony Davis at a higher rate than he did any of the other stars that he played with; he has simply never had a weapon like AD in his career. With his size and athleticism, AD is arguably the best “Roll-man” for the pick-n-roll in the NBA.

Combine that with LeBron’s ability to finish at the rim, his passing that is unrivaled in the NBA currently and Davis’ ability to pop instead of roll off the pick, and shot the 3, or mid-range, you get what might be the most unstoppable pick-n-roll duo of the modern era.

Just take a look at how easy this basket is for AD because of a nice play design from Vogel to get AD open and a precise pass from LeBron.

The even more exciting part about this duo is LeBron isn’t the only one who can drop some dimes. Anthony Davis finished with seven assists in this game which tied his season-high. A couple of them were some really nice dump-offs to JaVale McGee for open dunks, but this fast-break tip pass to LeBron for a slam was probably the highlight of the night, if not just this game but the whole NBA.

Plays like that are examples of the high levels these two can reach when they are at their best. If the Lakers can continue to put them in positions to succeed and not overwork them in the regular season, we could have a very very promising few years ahead of us.
