Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons to be thankful for this past offseason
By Nick Ziegler
Anthony Davis trade
Easily the thing that the Lakers should be most thankful for from last offseason was the decision to make a trade for Anthony Davis. Last season, the Lakers aggressively tried to acquire Davis, but no deal was completed during the season.
If the Lakers did trade for Davis during the season, things might have been much different for the Lakers. With the front offices changing a bit for both the Lakers and Pelicans last summer, the two sides were able to get a deal done.
The price to acquire Davis was not cheap, as the Lakers had to part with nearly their entire young core and multiple draft picks. However, it is looking like it is worth it so far. The pairing of Davis and LeBron has created one of the best duos in the NBA, and the two are meshing well.
Davis has been a force on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. So far, Davis is looking like he could be in the conversation for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Even though it might have hurt to see young players like Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Josh Hart go, this trade looks like it was the right move for the Lakers. Furthermore, the Lakers and fans should be very thankful for the Davis trade.
