1.) Limit the off-ball movement
A huge part of the Denver Nuggets offense is predicated on the off-ball movement, with Nikola Jokic as the engine driving the whole thing. Once Jokic gets to the elbows, players like Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Will Barton spring into action, moving in a symphony of flare screens and backdoor cuts.
It also doesn’t help that the Nugget’s team chemistry is insanely good due to the fact that their core players have been together for a number of years. At this point, players like Jokic, Murray, and Harris are so in tune with one another, that their ability to find one another in stride is almost psychic.
For the Lakers to be successful against the Nuggets, limiting the players without the ball is more important than the one with it.
Perimeter players like Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Alex Caruso need to make sure that their communication defensively is perfect, whether it be calling out for switches, or matching up in transition.
