Anthony Davis probably will get the MVP lead back this week, but he played great on both ends!

The MVP chase will go on all year-long, but for right now Anthony Davis is the best 2-way player on the planet right now. He is the anchor for a Lakers defense that will show up when needed to pull out wins.

Nobody AD’s size can play defense on all 5 positions. Let’s break down how he plays team defense.

This is Trae Young folks. Watch how AD provides the help for Avery Bradley to get the ball out of Young’s hands. Then he rotates to guard Vince Carter who passes the ball to Cam Reddish, who looked scared to death all night long. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope swipes it and dunks it.

How about AD’s one on one defense?

Again, folks, this is Trae Young, who usually destroys bigs in this situation. See the disciplined stance that he holds while Young was dribbling? Then he contested the shot and forced a miss. Then he leaked out knowing LeBron would give the ball up immediately and finished the play and drew the foul.

Side note: Does anyone know what in the world Trae Young was thinking? Like he was really going to stop AD?

Anthony Davis had a nice stat line of 27 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. But it’s the defense that he brings to the table that has the Lakers where they are today.

AD did injure his leg in the second half. It will be interesting to see how that affects him over the next couple of games this week.

Lake Show Life will keep you up to date with AD’s status.
