The man is a father. He loves his family and supports his kids. Any other narrative doesn’t matter.

LeBron James did not have to show up for this game. He had just played a tough game the night before and had a small window to travel before playing the next night against Atlanta. No one would have blamed him for missing the game.

The bottom line, he didn’t want to miss this experience with family and friends. His thoughts via Yahoo! Sports.

"“It was a surreal moment, not only for myself but my family and friends,” James said of the Columbus evening. “They were talking about how things come full circle. Seeing my son out playing in our home state, versus my alma mater, playing in front of our family and friends — everyone was telling me it was almost like I was back in high school all over again watching my son play. It was one of the greatest moments of my life so far.”"

To make things even sweeter, after scoring 15 points and the winning basket, Bronny won the MVP award. Just a chip of the old block. As for moments like this, it’s what makes sports such an important part of life because this is bigger than basketball.

LeBron James is the most recognized athlete on the planet. He’s the face of the NBA. He’s easily one of the most polarizing sports public figures since Muhammad Ali. He’s got three rings, MVP awards, businesses and has more money than he can ever spend.

But ask LeBron and he will place this moment near the top of not only his greatest moments but proudest achievements as a father. After the game, LeBron’s old high school teammates shared along in the celebration.

They were among the many that accompanied James’ family to Columbus, Ohio to watch the game.

It’s pretty much a guarantee that LeBron James will be discussed being at his son’s game more than the 3-0 record on the Lakers road trip. Many will criticize the “King” for watching his “Prince” grow up. To the people who have a problem with that.
