Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Players who have exceeded expectations in first quarter of the season
By Nick Ziegler
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Another player that has exceeded expectations in the first quarter of the season is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. For the last few seasons, Caldwell-Pope has been a player that has been hard to figure out for the Lakers.
Coming over from the Detroit Pistons, Caldwell-Pope looked like a young player who was on the rise. However, he really hasn’t replicated his play in Detroit with the Lakers.
While his per-game numbers are down a bit with all of the new players on the team this season, Caldwell-Pope has been very efficient for the team, and has recently found his niche. When Avery Bradley went down with a fractured leg, a struggling Caldwell-Pope went into the starting lineup and started playing much better.
As a starter this season, Caldwell-Pope is shooting 44 percent from 3-point range and 50 percent from the field. The good looks that he is getting playing with guys like LeBron James and Anthony Davis are helping him become a very efficient player for the Lakers.
Los Angeles brought in KCP with the hopes he would be a strong 3-and-D player. Especially as a starter this season, he has been exceeding expectations as a very efficient player for Los Angeles.
