1. Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard has become one of the most impressive stories this season. After failed stints in Atlanta, Washington, and Charlotte, Dwight appears to be relishing his second stint in purple and gold.
He looks healthy and humbled, two things that have been missing since his Orlando Magic days. Instead of pointing out his lack of shot attempts like he would do earlier in his career, Dwight is passionately rooting for his teammates to succeed.
Howard’s presence on the floor just adds to the Lakers’ already scary paint presence. He provides another great shot blocker and rebounder. On top of his defense, Dwight Howard is also averaging a career-best 72.2% from the field, mainly off of offensive rebounds and point-blank feeds from LeBron James.
Similar to Alex Caruso, Dwight Howards brings an infectious energy to the team. The former Defensive Player of the Year is making hustle plays and smart reads on defense in order to benefit the team.
Dwight may not be the Superman of old, but he has shown that he is still capable of throwing lobs down with authority. It is absolutely insane to think that one of the most hated NBA players in Los Angeles would be forgiven so quickly.
Dwight’s game thus far this season has earned him a second chance and he is taking advantage of it.
