The Howard/McGee combination has become one of the more dominant duos in the NBA!

Lake Show Life wondered how the two centers, Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee would exist. After McGee resurrected his career as a starter last year, would he be able to share time with Dwight? Well Dwight was Dwight at the time so, the concerns were obvious at the time. Nobody thought this duo would bring back the “Twin Tower era.

Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee have both had productive nights for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

What’s making the duo a force on the roster is the support they give each other. If one is doing well, the other has taken a step back. There have been many a night when both have cheered the other on the bench urging the other on. Notice the bench after each play. Either McGee or Howard are up cheering while the other is playing.

Between Howard and McGee, the Lakers can play 48 minutes of playing a huge front line with Anthony Davis providing a  rim-protector on the defensive end and a rim rattler off the pick and roll on the offensive end. at the center position. The success of these two is changing the blueprint of the NBA after “small ball,” dominated in past years.

Big men of Lakers past such as George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal were counted on to score. McGee and Howard combine to put up the numbers these players put up in the past. Thanks to a complete understanding laid out by the Lakers’ front office in the offseason, Howard knows what is expected of him.

McGee sees the similarities of the Lakers and his time in Golden State. Both have been outstanding in executing their roles to a high level. Thanks to these two working together, the Lakers have the second-best defense in the NBA in net rating and are tied for the best record overall.
