Continued 3-point success

Rajon Rondo has turned into quite the 3-point shooter in his time with the Lakers. After being one of the worst 3-point shooters in the history of basketball, he has shot 38% on 190 attempts in 62 games with the Lakers.

For many years, Rondo had no confidence in any shot beyond 10 feet. Now he is consistently knocking down shots and helping maximize the Lakers offense. When the offense spreads out, the duo of LeBron and AD can operate with more room to operate.

In Boston, Rondo was about a 25% 3-point shooter. He didn’t take more than 100 in a season during his time there. He would often get laughed at and turned into a meme when he even tried to attempt a jump shot, it was that bad.

But as Jason Kidd did during his days, he redefined his game and became a knockdown shooter after struggling in his early years. But can Rondo sustain these averages or is it a fluke?

Chances could be 50/50 either way but there is a silver lining. Rondo has continued to get better shooting 3-pointers each of the last three seasons, with an uptick in attempts. If he can show it’s no fluke, this Lakers offense will continue to elevate.
