1.) Danny Green

Danny Green is the perfect example of what you want in a role player. He knows exactly what he’s supposed to do, and does it an extremely high level. He doesn’t complain, does all of the little things on both ends of the floor, and amplifies the strengths of the team’s best players, most notably LeBron James.

Green was one of the biggest pick-ups for the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, and all you need to do is watch him on the floor to see why. His shooting and elite perimeter defense are two skills that have been major factors in the Laker’s success.

In the 2019-2020 season, Green has been averaging 8.2 points, while shooting a modest 36.7% from three. Obviously, this shooting percentage isn’t that impressive, but the season is still early so we should see Green’s shooting numbers get back to its usual 39-40 percent heading into the playoffs.

The thing that makes Green the best role player on the team so far is that even with his struggles on the offensive end, the defensive intensity is always there with him. This means that regardless of how well he’s shooting the ball, Green will always be able to make a positive contribution to the team.

Also, even with his slow start offensively, opponents still need to respect him from beyond the arc, providing invaluable spacing for the rest of the team. Come playoff time, we should fully expect Green to prove why he’s worth the contract he signed, as there is simply no replacement for championship experience.
