LeBron James has billions of people who criticize him from the President to Fox News. But no one could have thought Kyle Kuzma’s trainer would be doing it. Allegedly after the Lakers lost to Clippers on Christmas, Kuzma’s trainer went to social media and set off some Lakers rumors on Friday.
When the Los Angeles Lakers rolled out to a 24-3 record, for writers and reporters it’s a fun time as Lakers rumors were quiet. On the other hand, it can get kind of boring.
You see, the Lakers are about drama, infighting and the fanbase hitting the panic button at the least sight of adversity. Lakers rumors articles were non-existent on the website. Nothing but analysis. Well, after this past week or so, business has definitely picked up.
The drama that followed the Lakers seemingly from the start of the season last year FINALLY showed up in time for Christmas. Thanks to injuries to superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James and Frank Vogel’s mistake of replacing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the starting lineup with Avery Bradley, the Lakers have lost their last four games.
Part of what makes covering the Lakers fun is getting on social media to witness the Lakers casuals ignoring a hot start, coming out of the woodwork to give opinions and impossible trade options. About 75% of Lakers rumors start on Twitter with someone chasing clout.
But someone has to take the blame for ALL of the Lakers issues. After the Lakers blew a late lead to the LA Clippers on Christmas Day for the second time this season, Lake Show Life sat back and waited for the fingers to be pointed.
Raise your hand if you thought the latest critic would be Kyle Kuzma’s trainer Clint Parks? Parks provided news on a Lakers off day calling out LeBron James after the loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Christmas Day.
After Kyle Kuzma goes insane in the 1st quarter scoring 15 of his team-high 25 points, it’s nothing like having his trainer making things uncomfortable for the Lakers going forward in LA playing a back to back this weekend with some controversial comments on Instagram.
"“Watching Kawhi highlights from yesterday. NOBODY wants to speak on how sharp his skill set is compared to Lebrons. It’s clear who’s really in the LAB and who isn’t. Let me hear the excuses I’m on vacation I got nothing but time.” “Turn the film on. Somebody was dodging SMOKE yesterday and it wasn’t Kawhi.” After a series on Instagram story posts by Clint Parks, Kuzma had an interesting timed tweet that read “call a spade a spade.” He then deleted the tweet shortly after publishing it."
Here’s a copy before it got deleted. Click on the screen to read the post in full.
Well, that was bad timing. Kuzma’s best performance of the season is now lost by Parks’ Instagram post to question LeBron’s work ethic. If that wasn’t bad enough, he went on to say that he was scared of Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard.
Now here’s where things get hairy. In the tweet above, you see two pictures with messages on them. That’s bad enough, but all you need is someone to manipulate another tweet by Kuzma to send this into a media frenzy in Lake Show circles but is nothing but a Lakers rumor.

As you see in this tweet here, there are three pictures with Kyle Kuzma’s tweet with the caption saying “Call a spade a spade”. To most, it would look like Kuzma was co-signing Clint Park’s feelings.
Only one thing. Kyle Kuzma wasn’t talking about LeBron James. He was retweeting a Bernie Sanders tweet about Amazon needing to pay taxes.

Still with the class? After Kuzma sent this retweet out, he followed it up with the “Call a spade a spade” tweet you see above. Someone took the second Kuz tweet and attached it to his trainer’s comment. The backlash was so massive and sudden, it had to be deleted.
To say that this was totally unprofessional by Clint Parks can never be understated. Badmouthing any of your colleagues in any business can get you fired. Especially if the statements go public to embarrass the company or franchise.
Now that the Kyle Kuzma part has been explained, the question is, what was Clint Parks thinking? Lake Show Life takes a look to TRY and figure out Parks’ motives. To be clear, no one will ever truly know, but let’s investigate anyway.

Kyle Kuzma was in Lakers rumors before his trainer made his presence felt.
While Kyle Kuzma was lighting up the Staples Center on Christmas Day, most would see this as Kuz finally getting on track and finally taking his place as the third scorer for the Los Angeles Lakers.

No Lakers fans, it never seems to work that way. Balling out of your mind does not keep you out of trade rumors if the names LeBron James or Anthony Davis aren’t listed on the contract.
Has anyone seen Brandon Ingram play this year? No surprise. He was doing the same for the Lakers last year before the blood clot issue. Where did that get him? Traded.
Well for Kyle Kuzma according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Kuz could be a possible asset around the trade deadline.
"The Lakers need a legitimate third scorer, ball-handling help and outside shooting. Kuzma is 24, is under contract for $3.6 million next season and, as he showed on Christmas, has a potentially huge upside. He is the young player teams would want if the Lakers pursue a major upgrade come February. The Lakers’ other chief potential trade chip is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who makes $8.1 million this season with a player option for $8.5 million next year. But he would have to approve a trade. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is interested in upgrading his team, but activity likely won’t come until closer to the deadline."
Lake Show Life has already dealt with the realistic options on the roster. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is not going anywhere. The only players the NBA GM’s will even consider is Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma. Green has a $15 million dollar contract that no one in their right mind will take with the lack of production to justify it. Kuzma is now in the spotlight. Especially after his performance on a national stage. Right now he’s the only option via trade.
Kuzma is averaging 11.9 points on 43.8% from the field this season. The problem is he can’t stay on the floor missing a chunk of the season and only averages 23 minutes when he does.
Does Clint Parks see the future ahead for Kuzma and is trying to get ahead of things by putting out narratives on social media to help Kuzma. If that was his intention, boy he blew it. The Lakers have seen this movie before and bought the t-shirt.
The Big Baller Brand t-shirt.

LaVar Ball used these same tactics every time the Lakers rumors included Lonzo!
Does any of the Lakers fans remember every time Lonzo Ball was rumored to be on the trading block, LaVar Ball would make the rounds at Fox Sports 1 to spread smoke and throw the Lakers organization under the bus?
He called out everybody from Luke Walton to Magic Johnson, Jeanie Buss and especially LeBron James to justify Zo’s play. Remember when he had the audacity to say that Lonzo was better than LeBron?
Look anyone with one eyeball can see that it’s not true but his comments are still hilarious. Eight and a half minutes in he makes the comment. Enjoy your laugh for the day. Shannon Sharpe went crazy and even Skip Bayless dipped out of the conversation.
But a Lake Show Life report (outside of the Lonzo/LeBron comparison!) showed that many of the problems behind the scenes LaVar mentioned on-air was right.
But LaVar Ball set a precedent for the future. The Lakers aren’t going to tolerate anything close to this activity. Clint Parks put Kyle Kuzma in a very precarious position. In LeBron’s “Revenge Season” comments like those make things worse.
LeBron James’ 17th NBA season has been nothing short of brilliant, despite some recent injury concerns. He’s missed just one game compared to Kuzma’s numerous stints out of the lineup and is averaging 25.7 points, an NBA best 10.6 assists and 7.6 rebounds.
Oops. Wrong guy to criticize.

If Kyle Kuzma wants to stay a Laker past February, he’d better distance himself quick!
According to 247Sports, Kuzma and Parks have been connected for years, going back to his college days at Utah. Here’s what Parks said in an interview about his history with Kuzma.
"“Kuz ended up reaching out to me during his redshirt year. He heard about my work with Kawhi Leonard and Tony Snell, and wanted to start working with me because he felt he was similar to them. So, our relationship has just grown from his redshirt year and we continue to work together, and as he’s doing well, it’s helped me and I’ve had opportunities to work with a lot of really good players,” Clint Parks said in an interview with UteZone."
Now here’s where it gets good. Parks also mentioned that he started an AAU team that included Kawhi Leonard. Based on the tweet below, LeBron James is not the first franchise player to get unsolicited talent commentary.
Last year when Kawhi was in Toronto, Clint Parks put in his two cents.
Reminder that Clint Parks (a Kawhi stan) was basically calling Kyle Lowry an overpaid scrub during the playoffs only to see him dominate the rest of the way and help Kawhi win a title

Were the statements from Parks a product of Kyle Kuzma being frustrated? Kuzma discussed his struggles with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.
"“I’m just being patient. Obviously, coming in, I knew I had to sacrifice a lot. It’s kind of hard sometimes being a young player and you see other young players [around the league] that you think you are better than in better [playing] situations,” “But I just got great vets around me that keep me centered and chill. I have a chance to win a championship in my third year. I can do whatever I want after winning one. I’m just being positive. “For me, you’re not going to get the same touches, same shots and same vibe on the court. It’s something you really have to adjust and adapt to certain things. We live in a society where everybody wants you be to great now and every time out. But it’s going to take time.”"
Whatever the circumstance, Clint Parks burned the biggest bridge in the NBA and salted the Earth for good measure. History shows that bad comments on LeBron James don’t go over well.
No matter how bad the last 10 seconds looked a few days ago.

Remember the David Griffin comment that had him on every ESPN NBA show the next day? He’s a respected NBA GM that built a championship team. Did anyone know Clint Parks before Friday? The bottom line, one of the main reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers had a great start was the lack of distractions. Now they have them in spades.
In short, Clint Parks is buzzard meat. If Kuz doesn’t get rid of him, he’ll be the tasty side dish.
This is a story that will last through the weekend. Lake Show Life will be following it and will keep you updated.
