Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Lessons from win over the Dallas Mavericks
By Ronald Agers
Frank Vogel totally outclassed Rick Carlisle with his game plan and adjustments.
The Los Angeles Lakers coaches and players collaborated for another dominating defensive showing against Luka Doncic. Since his triple-double in Dallas on national television, The Lakers made it a point to shut him down for the second straight game. Doncic got his numbers but he did not play well and was frustrated with the physical play and ball denial.
Frank Vogel has had his issues at times with his rotations in important games but this game, he did an outstanding job. He used his bench effectively and they responded. The Lakers bench contributed 48 points along with timely plays when the Mavs were making their run in the 3rd quarter.

A special Lake Show Life shout out goes to Jared Dudley. The Lakers could have been in trouble when Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee was saddled with 5 fouls. Vogel moved Dudley in the lineup and it actually worked out. At times this season, Vogel would get himself in trouble by not experimenting trying to find combinations. Going small with Jared Dudley at the 5 spot and LeBron at the 4 spot confused the Mavericks.
Dudley defended and hit timely shots. Plus he does a great interview.

Finally, Rob Pelinka was in attendance fresh off of his promotion to President of Basketball Operations. This game showed the depth that he built this roster together with. Quietly Rob Pelinka has calmed a franchise that was a complete mess around this time last year. Many thought this franchise was in trouble with him making the decisions. A lot of those same people are eating crow these days. What he has done in silence has been amazing.
Congratulations Rob Pelinka from Lake Show Life! Now it’s time to go after the NBA’s Executive of the Year award.
