Los Angeles Lakers: 3 lessons from victory over Memphis Grizzlies
By Ronald Agers
Lake Show Life has run out of adjectives for Anthony Davis. Feel free to pass some along in the comment section.
Anthony Davis makes it fun to follow the Los Angeles Lakers. Seriously. He is really just that good. After coming back from the locker room, he dismantled the Grizzlies front line and started his own personal parade to the free-throw line.
Remember when he went to the line 27 times earlier this season? He only got there 15 times in this game but he loves to see Grind City coming. He did miss five, but he has a calf injury, what do you want from the man? Blood?
Stephen Jackson called Anthony Davis, “Tim Duncan on steroids”. After watching this play, if I was the rest of the NBA, I might want to have Adam Silver do an investigation on AD’s birth certificate. I mean, who does this?
This is some streetball, Rucker Park, Drew League type stuff here. First AD blows by Gorgui Dieng, goes up in between Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke and somehow scoops the ball in the basket just before halftime. He drew the foul and went to the free-throw line. He missed, got the rebound and almost knocked down ANOTHER jumper at the buzzer.
Davis overcame his injury early to finish with 27 points and 13 rebounds and seven blocks. He had 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks including a game-clinching 3-point shot in the fourth quarter alone.
The blocked shots showed AD’s aggressiveness. This blocked shot just shows proof that the Los Angeles Lakers have the most unique weapon in basketball.
The Memphis players never really recovered from this. Look at how far behind Davis is to start and how quickly he got in position to block the shot without fouling. Remember, this is AFTER the calf injury.
The Los Angeles Lakers finished the game with 14 blocks and half of them came from AD. That doesn’t even count the missed layups and altered shots. The calf bruise will be a story for the next few days. Lake Show Life will be on the lookout.
