– LBJ shows why he’s the MVP
Coming into the matchup, this game will feature possibly the only two real MVP candidates in LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo . With the best record in the league, many have believed that it will be Giannis who wins his second straight MVP. He has the stats and his team is the best, as those are certainly two main factors in the decision making.
This season, Giannis is averaging 29.6 points, 13.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. With a PER rating of 31.84, Giannis has the best rating in the NBA in that metric.
For James, he is also having a great season. This season, James is averaging 25.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game. James is leading the league in assists this season, and comes in ranked 5th in PER.
Big games like this are the ones that everyone remembers come playoff time and award time. While Giannis is the favorite to win the MVP as of now, James can make a run at the award with a big game against the Bucks.
Even though James might not care about winning the MVP award, he certainly wants to win this game against a team that he could face in the NBA Finals. If the Lakers come out with a big win in a nationally televised game with a strong performance from James, we could see this MVP race get close.
