Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Prospects to watch in the Big East Tournament
By Nick Ziegler
– Markus Howard
One of the top guards in the Big East the last couple of years has been Markus Howard of Marquette. While Marquette might be limping into the Big East tournament, they have one of the best players in the conference that can give them a chance to win on any night.
Howard is a true senior, who has been able to improve his game every season. As a freshman, Howard averaged 13.2 points per game. As a sophomore, he was able to reach the 20 points per game plateau. Last season, Howard was one of the best scorers in the nation at 25 points per game. This season, Howard was able to score even more, as he got his average up to 27.8 points per game.
In a major conference, Howard’s ability to score the basketball is really impressive. While his size and defensive abilities might limit his potential upside in the NBA, Howard is just simply a guy that could get buckets.
As a good shooter from beyond the 3-point line, Howard would fit nicely in a lineup with LeBron James. This season, Howard is shooting over 40 percent from 3-point range on just over 10 attempts per game.
