2. Defense

Defense wins championships. Luckily for the Lakers, they boast one of the best defenses in the NBA. One led by DPOY candidate in AD.

As a team, they give up 106.9 points per game. That is good for third in the NBA. Another impressive stat is their defense against the 3-point ball. They’re third in the NBA in that category as well holding teams to 34.2 percent beyond the arc.

They lead the NBA averaging 6.8 blocks per game and sit fourth in steals at 8.2. The team has been very active on the defensive end and the stats show it. They have put together a great season on that end and have proven they can defend anyone under the bright lights.

AD, LeBron, Danny Green, Avery Bradley and Dwight have all made All-Defensive teams in their career. Some have been far removed from those days, but they’ve all collectively together put on a defensive display.

When it gets to the playoffs, the games slow down. This will work in the Lakers’ favor. Don’t be surprised if their defense ranks as the number one unit in playoff action.
