Like it or not, Giannis Antetokounmpo will beat LeBron James the same way every other winner has.
Even at 35 years old, James can be the best player on the court when he is focused and really cares. When that mental connection is in effect, it can be just as deadly to NBA defenses as Giannis’ power and dominance. It’s almost like LeBron is playing chess while the rest of the NBA is playing checkers.
In the end, his statement performances came too late in the season to close the gap between him and Antetokounmpo in the MVP race. No disrespect, no hate, just the facts.
Here’s some unwritten rules that get lost from time to time. The voters usually go by this blueprint that could be manipulated at times (Steve Nash winning the MVP over Shaquille O’Neal is a perfect example!).
- Giannis will win the MVP because his offensive numbers have increased over his stats last year.
- The Milwaukee Bucks are the best team in the NBA with one of the highest, if not the highest point differential in NBA history. In short, the Bucks are killing their opponents.
- After Giannis injured his knee in the loss to the Lakers, the Bucks have taken a nosedive in his absence losing to the Denver Nuggets and giving up 140 points to the Phoenix Suns. Yes, you read that right ,140 points.
Lake Show Life understands that the word “valuable” allows narratives from both players to be misconstrued and used out on context. The second word named in the award is the hardest part of the equation.
- Both players’ impact on their respective team’s culture.
- The ability to lead a team through turmoil.
- Carrying a roster based on the talent he is given.
Based on this list, LeBron should win the MVP because the spotlight has been on him more based on two of the major events in the NBA put him there (The China controversy and the Kobe tragedy!). Couple that with the fact that a winning Lakers teams will have more media exposure than the Milwaukee Bucks no matter Giannis Antetokounmpo does.
Plus if any of this doesn’t convince you. You do realize that Anthony Davis will take MVP votes from LeBron right?
