Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Ways the suspension hurts the franchise
By Nick Ziegler
– Lose momentum
Before the NBA season being suspended, the Lakers were rolling for the most part. While the Lakers did suffer a letdown loss in their last game to the Brooklyn Nets, they were coming off some big wins.
Beating the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers before losing to the Nets helped establish the Lakers as a true contender. Before beating both of those teams, the Lakers were a combined 0-3 against the Clippers and the Bucks.
The narrative heading into that weekend was that the Lakers might have been a really good team, but not good enough to beat the best of the best. However, the Lakers were able to flip that narrative around.
After beating those two teams in one weekend, it looked like the Lakers were the team to beat. While the loss to the Nets was a letdown, the Lakers certainly had momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
Unfortunately, that momentum will all be gone if the season resumes. With at least a month or two off, the Lakers certainly won’t remember the momentum they had from that big weekend.
