– Donovan Mitchell

Arguably the best player to come from the 2017 NBA Draft has been Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz. Mitchell was selected 13th overall and has been great in the NBA right away. Coming out of Louisville, Mitchell was ready to play with the big boys in the NBA right away. In his rookie season, Mitchell averaged 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Due to Ben Simmons missing his entire rookie season and being eligible for the Rookie of the Year award, Mitchell, unfortunately, didn’t get the nod. However, he will go down as having one of the best rookie seasons of a player who didn’t win the award.

In his second season, Mitchell continued to get better, as he averaged 23.8 points, 4.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. In the loaded Western Conference, Mitchell didn’t make the All-Star team in his second season, but he was certainly deserving.

Furthermore, in Mitchell’s third season, he finally did get the All-Star nod. In his third season, Mitchell is averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. As a guard, Mitchell’s ability to help as a rebounder rounds out his game nicely. Since he was a rookie, Mitchell has been the go-to guy for the Jazz. Through about three years of play, Mitchell looks like he is the best player in a strong draft class.
