NBA Best Duos: 1. Los Angeles Lakers — LeBron James and Anthony Davis

  • Bleacher Report rank: Second

Call us biased all you want but there is no denying that the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is the best in the league. From a talent standpoint, there is nobody better than James and Davis and from a pure productivity standpoint, there is nobody like them either.

You could make the case for both Giannis and Kawhi being better than LeBron James and I would not attest. Heck, statistically, some would probably make the case for Harden at this point over James as well.

We are really splitting hairs with these guys and the fact of the matter is that LeBron is still on the NBA’s Mount Rushmore, where the talent difference is marginal at best.

Then you look at Anthony Davis, who is undoubtedly the best second-best player on a team in the entire league and alongside Stephen Curry on previous years’ Warriors teams, is one of the best second-best players of all-time.

Davis is easily a top-five player in the league this season and even when Kevin Durant and Curry return from injury next season he still will be top-seven at the very worst. He is one of the best defensive players in the league and is almost unstoppable in the post.

The pick and roll between LeBron and AD is probably the most unstoppable play in basketball right now. You have two extremely athletic forwards, one of which has historically great facilitating, setting screens and barreling towards the rim with a barrage of shooters around them.

There is a reason why the Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference and that is because the team is built around the best duo in the league.

What the Bucks and Clippers have done this season is impressive, but because of the gap between Davis with George and Middleton, the Los Angeles Lakers get the nod.
