1. Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are going to be deadly this off-season. Watch out. They are currently projected to have over $60 million in cap space. How laughable is that? The Hawks could theoretically afford to house a max player and two semi-stars while still having some change left over.
Atlanta is building a nice young core around budding star Trae Young and have a lot of young pieces surrounding him. All it takes is a couple of them to hit around the stars and they have a long-term contender on their hands.
The Hawks will look to Trae Young, John Collins, Cam Reddish, De’Andre Hunter, and Kevin Huerter to fill out their roster for the foreseeable future with projects like Bruno Fernando on the roster, as well.
Atlanta acquired Clint Capela at the trade deadline this season, but it would not be surprising to see him get traded once again to clear more cap space. The Hawks also will have a top-five pick in all likelihood and could pick up a wing like Anthony Edwards to further strengthen their young core.
A starting lineup of Anthony Davis, John Collins, Anthony Edwards, DeMar DeRozan and Trae Young sounds like a contender to me. However, Davis to Atlanta is still just a pipe dream for Hawks fans.
So while the door is open for Anthony Davis to leave the Los Angeles Lakers, it is apparent that the Lakers are probably the best bet for the all-star big-man.
