Redrafting the 2018 NBA Draft:

Selections: C Moritz Wagner (25), SF Isaac Bonga (39), SG Svi Mykhailiuk (47)

This is the draft where the Lakers could have really brought it home with cheap talent and they wound up…not. Mo Wagner and Isaac Bonga are developing into NBA contributors with the Washington Wizards and Svi is molding into the sharpshooter we all knew he would become, but with the Detroit Pistons.

The Lakers losing out on a first-round pick in the lottery despite having the second-worst record in the Western Conference is what pretty much stacked the odds against them.

New Selections: C Mitchell Robinson (25). SG/PG De’Anthony Melton (39), SG Svi Mykhailiuk (47)

Mitchell Robinson has developed into one of the best young centers in the game. Believe it or not, Robinson is second amongst all draftees in terms of win shares (12.9) and is only 0.1 WS behind the superstar Luka Doncic. Robinson is that good and he doesn’t get enough media attention.

De’Anthony Melton would have filled the role of Avery Bradley in a lot cheaper of a fashion.

Svi is fine because the Los Angeles Lakers wound up trading him anyways.
