The world is filled with rumors, and Los Angeles is a city that has plenty of them. One rumor that has circulated recently is that the Los Angeles Lakers will target Chris Paul this offseason.
This isn’t the first time that Chris Paul to Lakers rumors has floated around. Paul was supposed to be a Laker in 2011 but the league vetoed a trade and the star remained put in New Orleans. The failed trade is one of the most talked-about in league history. Imagine if Kobe and Paul played together?
That’s another story for another day. This season Paul has been the key to a Thunder team that’s surprising many with a 40-24 record. Most people wrote off Paul this season when he was involved in a big trade package for future Hall-of-Famer Russell Westbrook.
Paul has proven his doubters wrong like he has most of his career. The 34-year-old is averaging 17.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.9 rebounds. He is shooting an efficient 49 percent from the field, 37 percent from three, and an incredible 90 percent from the charity stripe.
Despite his great season, the fit with the Los Angeles Lakers doesn’t make much sense.
I will go into why the Lakers must avoid trading for the All-Star guard.
