Los Angeles Lakers: NBA Draft targets at each position
Point Guard: Tre Jones
Honorable Mentions: Cassius Winston, Devon Dotson, Payton Pritchard
Tre Jones of Duke might be the most interesting stock case in the 2020 NBA Draft pool at the moment. Once a top-five high school recruit in the country who played along with Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, Jones has fallen off slightly since.
Jones was considered as a first-round lock heading into the 2019-2020 season but has somehow found his way down to the second round in multiple mocks and I have no clue why.
Jones is a solid defender and can even shoot the three-ball with hope for improvement on both ends. The Lakers would be very fortunate to be able to have Tre Jones drop to them at 29th overall.
Point guard needs to be an area of focus for the Lakers considering that their current backup behind LeBron James is Rajon Rondo. Alex Caruso and Avery Bradley are capable of playing the point, but are both better utilized as two-guards.
Cassius Winston of Michigan State is one of the best three-point shooters in the country, Devon Dotson has terrific upside, and Payton Pritchard has defensive and passing ability. There are options for the Lakers at the point and they might be best suited to jump at the opportunity to draft one of these four men.
