4. Money
Money will be a factor whether or not Anthony Davis says it will be. Players like Kawhi Leonard have opted to leave money behind, but Anthony Davis is not represented by Uncle Dennis. AD has super-agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports in his corner this summer and Paul will ensure that his superstar client receives every penny possible.
AD does not seem like the type to be motivated by the money, but who wouldn’t want more for their first enormous payday? Anthony Davis will be receiving the max from the Lakers in all likelihood, which could pay him upwards of $200 million over the course of the next five years. If he opts to sign elsewhere, he will get significantly less (somewhere around $150 million over four years).
The main thing to note, though, is that AD is worth every penny he gets in free agency. He is one of the best ten players in the NBA with a strong case to be in the top five.
As we will discuss, there is more to the equation than just the dollars and cents attached to prospective his contract. Anthony Davis might view Los Angeles as a long-term home due to the allure that the city of Los Angeles carries.
