1. Legacy and Rings

The number one concept that is always talked about with superstars is the word legacy. Everyone has their unique definitions to what defines a legacy, but one constant remains in that conversation: rings.

The Los Angeles Lakers are defined by how many rings they have. The franchise doesn’t view a successful year to be a playoff year. They measure success in terms of ring count — how it should be.

The Lakers were in the upper echelon of teams in the 2019-2020 season with the Clippers and Bucks. There is no better place for Anthony Davis to be than Los Angeles if he wants to win rings going forward.

During his time in New Orleans with the Pelicans, Davis had the opportunity to make the playoffs, but he never had the true opportunity to contend. With the way the Lakers are currently constructed with LeBron and AD, there is no better place to be than Los Angeles.

AD’s legacy can be whatever he wants it to be — whatever he makes of it. One thing is for certain, though. Rings will always be within his grasp as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and not all franchises can provide that sort of ‘legacy security’.

While the Lakers and the city of Los Angeles are more than lucky to have the presence of Anthony Davis, Anthony Davis is very lucky to be in the situation he is right now. It’s time he makes the right decision and stays in the purple in gold.
