9.) Caruso’s putback dunk against Denver

Whenever you see Alex Caruso check into the ball game, you just know it’s only a matter of time before he surprises us with one of his patented ‘sneaky athletic’ plays. At this point, we shouldn’t be surprised that the 6’5″ guard out of Texas A&M has a pair of springs on him, as he has a long list of highlight plays to his name already, but it still never ceases to amaze when he gets vertical.

This was the case earlier in the year against the Denver Nuggets when Danny Green missed on a 3-point attempt (on a very slick behind the back pass from LeBron James mind you) and seemingly out of nowhere, Caruso skyed in, jumped over Dwight Howard, and slammed it back in with authority.

The dunk was so impressive that even though the game was played in Denver, the home crowd couldn’t help but respond with thunderous applause. It simply was that impressive. It’s also possible that there was a large chunk of Laker fans in the audience.

Alex Caruso has proved himself to be an important part of the Lakers’ rotation, providing high IQ play from the guard position, a tremendous amount of hustle, and great defensive instincts. Even though he plays limited minutes, he makes the most out of them, and hopefully will prove himself when the postseason rolls around.
