NBA Fans want to see the Icon at his best in “Purple and Gold”.
When Lakers Nation remember Kobe Bryant, they only want to remember his last season from the last game of his career. The night he served 60 points to the Utah Jazz in historical fashion (There really won’t be another repeat of it in our lifetime!) and addressed the crowd and closed out the speech with the famous two words that resonate to this day from Lakers fans all over the world.
“Mamba out!”
Fans want to remember these things.
- By the end of the night, Kobe had stolen the Golden State Warriors 70 win thunder while even they watched in the locker room.
- Shaquille O’Neal stating in interviews that he challenged Kobe to score 50 points. Then Kobe took the challenge and did him 10 points better.
- Kobe Bryant scored 33,643 points in his career.
- He won five championships with the Lakers and was called the greatest Laker ever by Magic Johnson.
The difference between this potential documentary and “The Last Dance” is the current documentary was about the last championship season. During Kobe Bryant’s last season, the Lakers finished with a historically bad 17-65 record in 2015-16.
There were some very lean years at the end of Kobe’s career with the roster that was constructed around him. The stories behind the losses have to be included. Was Kobe the reason? Was it Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak? The coaching staff?
This all-time performance masked years of total dysfunction around the Lakers after Dr. Jerry Buss passed back in 2013.
Fans want to remember Kobe Bryant bringing respect back to the Olympic Basketball program.
