2. Point guard

Laker fans have grown increasingly frustrated with Rajon Rondo‘s play in the purple and gold and it might be time for the team to move on at the point guard position. Rondo does have a player option for next season, but the Lakers still could trade him and he has a rather easy contract to move because of his salary.

With the young guards on the roster, it makes sense for the team to transition away from Rondo in the coming years. Alex Caruso would benefit from the uptick of minutes and Talen Horton-Tucker could potentially even get depth minutes at point guard as well.

However, despite his size, THT is a more traditional two-guard. If Rondo does leave in free agency or gets traded then the team is not going to have a facilitating point guard on the roster, at all.

Bradley would still be considered the starting point guard but the reason why he is such a good starting point guard on a LeBron James-led team is that he does not need the basketball to be successful.

Caruso has potential and is a fan-favorite but he is not a facilitator in the slightest. With LeBron off the court, the team would not have anyone to essentially run the offense, which is what Rondo does now.

LeBron is not off the court often, though, which makes this a potentially great fit. Bradley and Caruso could get the bulk of the minutes at the point guard position with a rookie point guard coming in while LeBron is off the court to serve as the engine of the offense.

Trusting a rookie to be a playmaker is a tall task but if they draft someone who showed facilitating ability in college then it absolutely is doable.
