Los Angeles Lakers: Players with the most to prove if the season continues
By Jason Reed
1. Dion Waiters
Dion Waiters had really unlucky timing with everything that is going on and when he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. After being available for weeks and undergoing tryouts, Waiters finally signed with the Lakers on March 6 and looked to make a late-season push to make the playoff rotation.
Waiters did not suit up for the Lakers on the sixth, eighth or 10th and was set to finally make his Laker debut, before the season went on hiatus. Now, like he was prior to signing, Waiters is just playing the waiting game.
This is super important for Waiters as it not only affects his future with the Los Angeles Lakers but affects his future in the league as well. There is no doubt that he is talented but off-court things, such as taking an edible on a team plane and having a panic attack, hurt his stock.
Waiters would have a lot of eyeballs watching him as he not only fights for a spot on the playoff roster but potentially makes a difference in the playoffs as well. Him having a good showing would absolutely increase the number of teams that are interested in him.
The Lakers would have reasons to be interested in him as well as he could be the secondary ball-handler that Rajon Rondo is when LeBron James is off the court and is a much-better off-ball player than Rondo, giving the Lakers the best of both worlds.
