SG: Anthony Peeler (38.2%)

Most readers probably expected to see Kobe Bryant on this team as he is the greatest scorer in Los Angeles Lakers history and is arguably the best player if not Magic Johnson, but he did not really shoot that well from beyond the arc, with a career percentage under 33 percent.

Instead, the honors go to Anthony Peeler, who is not the most memorable player in Lakers’ history as he was a depth shooting guard in the mid-90s, which is sandwiched between two great eras of Laker basketball in the Showtime Lakers and the Kobe-Shaq Lakers.

Blake has the best field goal percentage in franchise history with at least 500 attempts and Peeler is second, coming right behind Blake not only in percentage but in all-time threes made. Peeler took 651 threes as a Laker opposed to Blake’s 653 and made 249 opposed to Blake’s 250.

Peeler was never an all-star in his NBA career and averaged 10.6 points in 22.7 minutes per game as a Laker. His best shooting season was the 1995-96 season, in which Peeler made 41.3 percent of his three-point shots.

If we were not going solely off percentage, then the backcourt would likely have consisted of Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant. Fisher is the all-time leader in three-pointers, after all. However, by going purely off of percentage, we can shine the light on guys like Peeler and Blake.
